MINHA CARTA A REDBULL AUSTRÍACA - DAVID LAMA GET OUT OF TORRE
Hi RedBull staff,
I'm a brazilian climber who loves Patagonia, as well as many others.
One shouldn't do outside what he doesn't like to be done in his own home.
It is internationally known that David Lama has added inumerous bolts on the Compressor route, Cerro Torre and left lots of trash at the bottom of the wall, on the glacier. It took decades to create ethical codes amongst climbers: never add bolts to someone's route, neither climbing up nor rappeling down. Imagine someone adding a bolt in a famous Yosemite route. That would never be possible because local community would'nt permit it, Then why in our loved Chalten?
Down here in Southamerica, many climbers have decided not to drink RedBull, as a response to these facts.
two previous big film broadcasts have been at Cerro Torre before, without needing to make such damage.
Forums of discussion and many blogs are talking about this issue, and sign-list petitions are running through internet, inside and outside the climbing community.
I suggest that RedBull, La Sportiva and Mammut rethink the project support.
Thanks,
Eduardo Ducha Pacheco
